Theme Park featuring choose your own adventures with the aid of augmented reality People enter the park and are given 2 things, an electronic device similar to a phone/tablet and holographic glasses. All devices are precharged and have a long battery life (24+ hours). These must be returned in order to exit the park. There is no escape otherwise, either return the tablet or pay a loss/damage fee. Theme park has 3 basic "build your own adventures" genres including: Space, Mystery, and Fantasy Each genre area will have at the very least one amusement ride, live performance or show, a passive play location, and a themed food stand or restaurant.  Space land will be primarily focused on space exploration. It will include two ride, a high speed thrilling spaceship roller coaster and a laser tag battle arena. The live show of this area would be an intergalactic county hunter chase scene where an actor will come out to actively seek escaped alien convicts. People can part

Week 13: In Class

What is your reaction to the text you just read? I was confused at first by the way things were described, they seemed so present yet futuristic that I couldn't really understand what was going on at first. It became interesting once the novel dropped hints towards cryogenic freezing as a method to 'age' or time travel for the characters.  What connection did you make with the story? Discuss the elements of the story with which you were able to connect. I was able to personally connect with the setting and location of the story. As someone who was mostly raised in Orlando, 30 minutes away from Disney, I know the park by heart. The character Lil was someone I could relate to because she's from a similar situation, and besides that she was also raised on music from an older generation rather than her present one. What changes would you make to adapt this story into another medium? What medium would you use and what changes would you make? If I were to change t

Week 13: Theme Park Draft

Theme Park featuring choose your own adventures with the aid of augmented reality People enter the park and are given 2 things, an electronic device similar to a phone/tablet and holographic glasses. Devices are precharged and have a long battery life (24+ hours). Theme park has 4 basic "build your own adventures" genres including: Sci-fi, Mystery, Fantasy, and Historical. In each of these genre parks there are areas where you can scan in and play a character within the adventure. An example would be going to Sci-fi land and scanning into the role of being an alien hunter and having to hunt down a wanted alien criminal by finding clues in the area. People would be able to scan in as many characters as they wish throughout their day in the park with no limitation. In each area would also be themed rides pertaining to its genre. Sci-fi: Spaceship rollercoaster, Mystery: Graveyard/Underworld Omnimover, Fantasy: Knights Quest During holiday seasons they change 3 of the

Week 9: Crime and Punishment

Based off my writings last week the world my society would probably fall under would be dystopian. I imagine this tribe as merchants who bring create a connection between cultures. In this world there would be a certain level of segregation between species. There are major stereotypes that keep people/creatures from mingling with each other. My tribe however bridges the gap since they are a major, almost sole, provider of transported goods. I described last week that power in the tribe belongs to 3 chiefs which are in a closed poly relationship. They serve as an example to the people in their tribe since most are encouraged to pursue open relationships. Crime in the tribes rarely occur but are not unheard of. Because each traveling pack has it's own 3 chiefs to lead them, it can be difficult to maintain a constant level of quality in leadership. The tribes have several meeting points where they often consult in order to avoid any major conflicts in the teachings of the tribes.

Week 8: Genderless Society

There exists a tribe of traveling merchants who mount and herd large hyena like creatures. The tribe is massive as they grew so large that they split to become multiple packs withholding the same traditions and keep in communication through regular meet ups. At the head of each pack are 3 chiefs who exist solely to serve as an example to the rest of their tribe.  The tribe lives off a diet of animal products and whatever they manage to scavenge throughout their travels. They are long distance traders who keep moving in order to survive and circulate through the lands. Since traveling is so highly important to them t hey rely on star mapmaking written by their own tribe members. They prefer to eat food thats on the sweeter side like milk products, honey, or fruits. Rarely will they indulge in savory or bitter foods. They highly regard the stars because of their daily importance for travel. The tribe believes that the stars hold the power to determine their fates also beli

Week 5: Planet Building Assignment

Image
An explanation on my planet created for the planetarium assignment. My planet was based off 3 main focused concepts. Lighting, Life, and Terrain. I asked myself how I wanted to light this planet, choosing that this planet is so far from a light and heat source that its relatively dark. Because it's dark and lacks heat the planet is cold, but not cold enough to frost over. The terrain is dry made of crystals similar to amethysts, little to no water exist here preventing the frost. So if this planet is cold and dark what life can it sustain? Bioluminescent mushrooms began sprouting on the planet long ago, managing to thrive on what little nutrients the ground holds. These mushrooms in turn provide light and from a telescope look like stars blending in the planet to the rest of space.

Week 4: History Plus Nerd Trope

Now unless youre a historian in Australia not many people know about the Great Emu War held in 1932. Or so this is what they chose to label it to the public. You see the rumors of Australia having the deadliest animals on earth is absolutely true theres no denying it. However what they choose to keep from you is the amount of unexplainable other wordly being that escape the gates of hell via Australia.  The vast farming land wasnt being piliaged by some  annoying flightless birds it was something far worse, dracoliches. Soldiers who bravely fought in World War I were coming home to settle down and restart their lives but they never expected to see the dracolich migration cross these newly inhabited lands. It wasnt until crops were ready to harvest that the first one appear, using its giant razor sharp talons to uproot the vegetation an eating it as a salad before consuming the farmers who lived there. After the first one more stormed in and the farmers who were able to escaped were a
